Kyle Misak is a writer/director from Kalamazoo, Michigan, with a passion for filmmaking. Kyle’s love for movies has always been present, but it was in his tenth grade English class that the idea of filmmaking as a career path became a very real possibility. Kyle was always a writer, but he began tinkering with editing for the first time in that class, splicing clips from his favorite films together and then putting them to music. At first, Kyle thought he might like to become an editor; however, it was that very summer that he found himself helping as a PA on an indie film near his home town, and he realized that directing was his true passion.

Since that time, Kyle has gone on to write and direct over twenty films, four of which are feature length, working with many acclaimed actors over the past ten years. During Kyle’s third year in college, he wrote, directed, and produced his second feature film, Another Brick in the Wall. He raised $50,000 for the project, put together a professional crew, hired SAG actors, and shot the film over the course of three weeks in Michigan. Carel Struycken (“Lurch” from The Addams Family) was one of the actors Kyle had the privilege of working with on the film. His relationship with Carel stemmed from a fan letter he wrote to him in high school. During that time, he sent thousands of letters to his favorite actors and directors, and while he received many autographed photos, Carel was one of the few who wrote him back. The two have remained good friends since that time and have collaborated on other films, as well.

In March of 2017, Kyle had the opportunity to direct Creed Bratton from NBC’s “The Office” in a short film he wrote called “Crazy Carl.” With the script in hand, Kyle reached out to Creed’s agent and started a dialogue. Creed read the script, loved it, and agreed to do the film despite it being a small budget passion project. The film went on to win the best director award at the 2017 Eclipse Awards.

More recently, Kyle co-wrote and directed his third feature film, The Eden Theory. This was a tremendous undertaking with over forty locations in eight different cities, all actors flying in from Los Angeles, a non-local crew, dozens of special FX shots, and only a $15,000 budget. Kyle had the opportunity to direct Larry Hankin (Home Alone), Jeffrey Weissman (Back to the Future II & III), Trevor Snarr (Napoleon Dynamite), and once again, Carel Struycken. With a stellar cast and amazing crew, Kyle led the charge and saw the film through to the end. It is currently in negotiations with a company in LA for worldwide distribution.

In 2018, Kyle directed a football film called “Sullivan” starring Lester Speight (“Terry Tate: Office Linebacker”). The film features an ensemble cast and over three-hundred extras, as Kyle orchestrated two football teams, two cheerleading squads, a marching band, a choir, paramedics, athletic trainers, coaches, local high school staff, police security, and a crowd of fans for the big game sequence in the film.

Kyle’s determination, persistence, and passion for filmmaking has allowed him to take on projects big and small and work with some truly amazing people. Always with a strong vision for his stories, Kyle looks forward to bringing magic to the big screen for all audiences.
